POSITION INFO:

Our client, in the Finance sector based in Stellenbosch is looking for a Compliance Officer to join their dynamic team.

Overview:
They are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Compliance Officer to oversee and manage all their compliance functions. The successful candidate will ensure that the companies operate in full compliance with applicable financial regulations, including South Africa's regulatory framework for foreign exchange and crypto assets. The Compliance Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring regulatory adherence, mitigating risks, and promoting a culture of compliance within the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

• Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with South African financial regulations, including the Financial Intelligence Center Act (FICA), Exchange Control Regulations, and the Conduct of Financial Institutions (COFI) Bill.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and provide guidance on their impact on business operations.
  • Manage licensing and regulatory reporting requirements to the Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) and South African Reserve Bank (SARB).

Risk Management:

• • Identify, assess, and mitigate compliance risks across both companies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust risk management framework.
  • Conduct regular compliance audits and assessments.

• Policies and Procedures:
  • Develop and update compliance policies and procedures to align with regulatory requirements.
  • Implement training programs to ensure staff awareness and understanding of compliance obligations.
  • Enforce adherence to internal policies through monitoring and reporting mechanisms.
• AML and KYC Oversight:
  • Oversee Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes.
  • Ensure effective due diligence procedures are in place for clients and counter parties.
  • Report suspicious activities to the Financial Intelligence Center (FIC) as required.
    
    
• Advisory and Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies and auditors.
  • Provide compliance advice to internal stakeholders, including management and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with legal counsel on compliance-related matters.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders, including banks, regulatory authorities, and service providers.
    
    
• Training and Awareness:
  • Conduct regular compliance training for employees to ensure regulatory adherence.
  • Foster a strong compliance culture within the organization.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A recognized compliance certification (e.g., ICA, CISA, CAMS) is advantageous.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry.
• Experience in foreign exchange, crypto assets, and financial services compliance preferred.
• Strong knowledge of South African regulatory frameworks, including FICA, AML, and exchange control regulations.

Area: Stellenbosch

Salary offered: R30 000 000 – R40 000 per month. (depending on number of years’ experience)

Starting date: As soon as possible.
