POSITION INFO:
Main purpose of the job:
- The Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) project requires the services of one (1) cluster manager for Mthatha cluster, who will be responsible for providing strategic project guidance, oversee and manage the Wits RHI Project PrEP teams at designated project sites
- Site level programme management, mentoring and coaching for both clinical and non-clinical staff, stakeholder engagement and relationship building (district, sub-district, community, and CBOs), clinical service delivery, administration, staff management, quality improvement and skills transfer
Location:Key performance areas:- Communicate, promote, and support implementation of Project PrEP at the district, sub-district and facility levels
- Provide programme implementation guidance and support to site level team members to ensure delivery of program activities according to timelines and budgets
- Constant consultation and planning with the District and Sub-District Stakeholder Engagement Manager and site level teams
- Conduct regular meetings with site level team to ensure outputs are delivered and to review progress on implementation plan
- Review cluster implementation plans for effective implementation of the program
- Identify the needs of the program at a site level and obtain resources required
- Coordinate and troubleshoot all programme related activities including but not limited to provision of all SRH services to clients when a nurse responsible is not available
- Oversee the roll out of training plan including conducting Training of trainers
- Through the District and Sub-District Stakeholder Engagement Manager, work closely with the capacity building adviser/consultant to ensure that capacity building activities are implanted in the district
- Monitor the delivery and quality of training at all levels
- Participate in monitoring activities mandated by the trainings of DoH and support staff
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, feedback and support to the team
- Participate in ongoing mentorship programmes initiated by other WRHI stakeholders
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training by obtaining feedback from stakeholders and/or relevant assessments
- Support the site level team, ensuring that communication between the team is optimal and that program activities are coordinated and leveraged
- Ensure coordination across programme streams
- Support activities that promote and advocate for adolescent and youth friendly service (AYFS) or youth zones at health facility and community level
- Provide SRH services in including clinical services when need arise
- Maintain close communication with the M&E team to ensure adequate and regular reporting and documenting lesson learnt and success stories
- Develop and effectively manage relationships with relevant Wits RHI structures
- Contribute to the achievement of Wits RHI’s corporate goals and objectives
- Develop and effectively manage relationships with external stakeholders including DBE, DOH, DSD, donors, and partners/ as per stakeholder engagement document
- Serve as a representative of the Project PrEP on external forums/working groups in the district
- Coordinate programme activities with external agencies such as public health, NGO partners, regulatory bodies, donor monitoring and auditing agencies and others as necessary
- Supervise and manage line reporting (clinical mentor, operation coordinator, and training officer) in keeping with Wits RHI policies and procedures
- Attend to all staffing requirements and administration at a district level
- Supervise and manage the duties of supervisees to ensure optimal staff utilisation and maintenance of sound labour relations
- Perform and facilitate performance assessments
- Identify substandard performance by team members and take necessary corrective action.
- Coach and train subordinates and team members to ensure the acquisition of knowledge and skills required by the organisation
- Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing of information
- Provide day-to-day support to all project staff
- Take ownership and accountability for tasks and demonstrates effective self-management
- Follow through to ensure that quality and productivity standards of own work are consistently and accurately maintained
- Maintain a positive attitude and respond openly to feedback
- Take ownership for driving own career development by participating in on-going training and development activities such as forums, conferences, policy setting workshops, etc.
Required minimum education and training:- Relevant Nursing Degree with education qualification
- Certified clinical (NIMART, APC/PC101 and HTS) mentor
- Dispensing License
- Proven Facilitation skills
- Certified Assessor
- Valid SA driver’s license
- Understanding of clinical research
Required minimum work experience:- 10 and above years’ experience in public health and HIV Prevention and Management
- 5 years’ clinical training experience (HIV/TB/SRH)
- 5 years clinical mentoring experience and experience in assessing learners
- 10 years staff management experience
- 5 years strategic stakeholder engagement and relationship management
Professional body registration:- South African Nursing Council
Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities:- Certification in HIV Management
- Sound technical knowledge on HIV Prevention strategies, integration of health services, TB-HIV integration, Knowledge and understanding of national, provincial and local health structures
- Ability to interpret clinical guidelines
- Qualification or experience in training, mentoring, project management and quality improvement methodologies
- Knowledge of clinical systems and data management
- Understanding of the challenges facing young people in the health context
- Previous experience in Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services and other HIV prevention services, clinical research, and knowledge of clinical and data management and analysis
- Knowledge of national, provincial and district health structures
- Experience working with donor funded programmes and reporting requirements
- Report writing skills. Understanding of budget management
- Strong organizational skills with an accurate approach to work, attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Training and development of staff
- Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks
- Able to exercise discretion and independent decision-making
- Able to prioritize own workload and work towards deadlines
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and work as part of a multidisciplinary team
