Chief Investment Officer

SUMMARY:
We are looking for a highly motivated and passionate professional to lead and oversee our Business Investment Division as the Chief Investment Officer. As part of the Executive Management team, the appointed individual will be based in Houghton, Johannesburg at the corporate head office.

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee compliance with internal investment policies and processes.
• Enhancement of investment operating model processes, systems and policies.
• Lead and motivate the investment team in alignment with business goals and values.
• Collaborate with and support the Executive Management team.
• Interact with and support the Board and its sub-committees with professionalism, transparency, and integrity.
• Monitor investment performance and provide regular reports to the managing director, board of directors, and other stakeholders.
• Promote the interests of the company in all interactions with clients, shareholders, and other SME sector stakeholders.
• Represent the company in interactions and negotiations with external stakeholders, including shareholders, investors, financiers, and regulators.
• Formulate and oversee the implementation of a Business Investment Strategy that aligns with the overall business strategy.

POSITION INFO:
Required Qualifications and Experience:

Qualifications:
A post graduate degree in accounting, business management, commerce or finance.
A Masters’ degree/CFA/ CA (SA) or similar level qualification will be advantageous.
Participation in an Executive Leadership or Management Programme will be advantageous.

Experience:
A minimum of 8 years’ exposure in the financial services industry.
A minimum of 4 - 5 years’ experience in structuring SME and/or private equity business investments.
A minimum of 5 years’ operating at a senior management level at a medium to large organisation.
Exposure to and experience in developing and implementing strategy.
A solid track record in leading and managing senior employees as well as the ability to inspire and develop high-performing investment teams.
