CTS 14749 - Tool And Die Maker (Automotive) – Durban

Your responsibilities will be the following:

• Designing jigs and templates as work aids in the manufacturing process.
• Visualising and computing metal shapes and tolerances
• Reading and interpreting blueprints, design schematics and CAD drawing of tool, dies, prototypes or models
• Prepare templates and sketches and determine work processes
• Compute dimensions and tolerances and set up machine tools
• Set up, operate and maintain a variety of machine tools such as, but not limited to machine tools to cut, mill, plane drill, grind, bore or otherwise shape workpiece to prescribed dimensions and finish
• Verify machine parts for conformance to specifications suing precision measuring instruments such as verniers, callipers, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and electronic measuring devices
• Filing, grinding and shimming metals to ensure a smooth finish
• Routine Die maintenance checks & refurbishment of Press Tooling
• Attend to breakdowns, identification of faults and problem solve at the press with minimal downtime
• Inspecting finished dies and tools for defects, smoothness and contour deformities
• Conducting try-outs to complete New & Modified Press Dies to support Press operations
