CREDIT FUND INVESTMENT ASSOCIATE – Century City, Cape Town

Our Client, a reputable and award-winning Investment Firm is currently seeking to appoint an Credit Fund Investment Associate to join their dynamic and growing team of investment professionals.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Sector Research: Stay abreast of industry and / or sector developments
• Deal Origination: Build and maintain a network of deal sources within the early-stage investment ecosystem that regularly introduce high quality opportunities into the fund’s pipeline
• Deal evaluation: Manage a pipeline of potential investments at different stages of the screening process, with senior support. Apply 'Edge's investing methodology to craft a high-level investment thesis and together with financial evaluation and investment structuring, motivate transactions to the rest of the deal team
• Project Management: Executing all of the above within a strongly project managed work process is essential
• Deal execution, with support from senior support:

Project Information Mémorandum ("PIM") :

• Strong writing skills and can manage the document preparation and PIM process with limited supervision and editing to agreed-upon time frames
• PIM preparation with a little editing to their contribution

Due diligence:

• Undertake focused research and analysis as part of the due diligence process to understand the upside potential of the Renewable Energy projects (including executing fundamental strategic analysis and applying sound business judgment to assess the market opportunity, the business model, and core team)
• Analyse historical financials and conduct financial modelling in order to assess the ability to service the debt including some sensitivity analysis
• Detailed financial modelling per the Company’s Financial Modelling and Project Finance Standards
• Own the responsibility of running the financial, commercial and tax workstreams with the Due Diligence process

Closing:

• Support the senior team in managing the process of:
• Drafting, negotiation and execution of legal agreements
• Effective transaction hand-over process and ongoing collaboration with PIM and Administration teams
  • Track market developments/press coverage and provide regular summary reports
  • Assisting with ad hoc duties as required by or assigned by Management and Senior Team
  • Work closely with the Community Trust and internal ESG team to monitor the governance and implementation plan executed within the agreed timelines with the target borrower

Qualifications & Experience:

• Qualified CA (SA) | CFA | MBA | Relevant Masters Qualification
• 2-3 Years proven credit fund experience gained in leading transactions within the unlisted/private markets sector including:
• Assessing opportunities for mandate fit
• Playing a key role in the DD process
• Managing external service providers such as legal, insurance and technical advisors
• Negotiating terms and translating these into agreements
• Preparing reports and leading Credit Committees through the merits and risks identified in transactions
• Financial modelling experience
  • Solid knowledge of MS Excel and MS Office as a whole
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative valuation/analytical/financial skills
  • Strong interpersonal, teamwork and natural leadership skills
