SUMMARY:
CONTRACT POSITION: Electrician (Plant Engineering Division) - to be based in BOSKOP, POTCHEFSTROOM

POSITION INFO:
PURPOSE OF THE JOB: The Electrician is responsible for performing all designated electrical functions in the department and participating in electrical installations of projects locally and internationally.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Execute all electrical-related tasks efficiently.
• Build and wire control panels and junction boxes and connect instruments using manufacturing data packs.
• Layout cable racks and trays.
• Conduct upgrades to electrical plants.
• Provide technical support to the department.
• Attend meetings and report daily on project status.
• Travel internationally for plant installations.
• Adhere to safety guidelines and avoid risky practices.
• Execute design reviews of instrumentation drawings.
• Investigate failures and ensure corrective action is taken.
• Oversee the installation and assist with plant commissioning.
• Provide training/support for products/systems/equipment.
• Assist with instrumentation design and review activities.

• N3 Certificate with Electrician Trade Certificate (Red Seal)
• Minimum of 3 years of qualified electrician experience.
• Strong understanding of electrical and control circuit layouts.
• Familiarity with installation requirements in explosive environments.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Energetic, self-motivated, and team-oriented.
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment and initiative.
• Good communication, planning and organising skills.
• Interpersonal skills and ability to effectively collaborate with multiple internal and external disciplines.
• Valid passport, willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally, sometimes for 3 months, depending on the project scope
