CNC Machinist

SUMMARY:
Our Client is looking at recruiting a CNC Machinist to study work orders, sketches, drawings and blueprints to determine dimensions and tolerances that need to be programmed into CNC machines and program CNC machines according to data derived from sketches and drawings to produce required mechanical components.

POSITION INFO:
Key responsibilities

• Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to find dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements
• Operate CNC mill, CNC lathe, manual mill, and drill press according to job specifications.
• Set up machinery and ensure all production materials are available
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine control as required
• Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, jig borers, grinders, and shapers
• Document quality inspections as directed by SOP
• Set-up and operate Toolroom equipment (i.e., lathe, mill, broach, grinders etc.) and machine parts to job specifications
• Review job orders, bring in the required material into the shop from the warehouse
• Operate over head crane in a safe manner in accordance with company safety protocols.
• Organize paperwork to ensure jobs are completed as per company standards.
• Load programs onto CNC machines
• Alter and change program sizes, tool numbers, coordinate system and program if required
• Setup tools and offsets as required to achieve drawing specifications
• Load and unload jobs onto CNC machines manually or with a crane
• Preform first off and in process inspection on all parts
• Keep records of daily production and forward this information to the Machine Shop Foreman or Supervisor

• Develop and optimize CNC programmes for milling, turning, or other machining operations.
• Interpret and work from technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD files.
• · Set up and operate CNC machines, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform machine maintenance checks and ensure tools and equipment are in good working order.
• Conduct quality checks on finished products to meet required tolerances and specifications.
• Troubleshoot and resolve programming and machining issues as they arise.

• Matric
• Proven experience as a CNC Programmer in a manufacturing environment.
• Relevant certifications in CNC programming or machining would be advantageous.

• 5+ years’ in Heavy Equipment/ Manufacturing environment
• Strong background knowledge of AutoCAD, Master Cam / SolidWorks
• Proficiency with FANUC controls

• 3-5 years of experience working with CNC machine
• Experience in a heavy mechanical manufacturing production environment
• Experience on CNC Vertical Machining, CNC Lathe Machining, CNC Milling Machining.
• Ability to use inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, CMM, etc
• Experience working with a diverse range of materials, including Metals: Aluminum, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Heat-Treatable Steel, Brass, Titanium.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with ad-hoc issues when required.
