CIVIL PRE ENG

SUMMARY:
CLIENT in RENEWABLE ENERGY INDUSTRY requires the services of a CIVIL PRE ENGINEER for their offices in the GAUTENG AREA as soon as possible

POSITION INFO:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Ù Degree in Civil Engineering.

Ù Must be registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA).

Ù Experience in designing Solar PV plants, and Substations desired.

Ù Practical site experience of construction sites. (Solar PV plants and Substations desired).

Ù Specific knowledge of Standards and Specifications that apply.

Ù Experience in working with Eskom desired.

Ù Must have good knowledge of software design packages such as Prokon and Civil 3D.

Ù Knowledge of FIDIC and other Engineering & Construction contracts.

Ù Proficient in the English language. (Written and spoken)

Ù Minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar capacity.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Ù Computer literate.

Ù Ability to work on CAD and other design software.

Ù Must have good technical writing skills.

Ù Must be willing to learn and develop with change in technology.

Ù Protection and grading studies.

Ù Ability to generate detailed bills of quantities (BoQ)

COMPETENCIES

Ù Ability to translate and implement client specifications and requirements into basic and detailed designs.

Ù Understanding of Environmental and other regulatory requirements and their influence on designs.

Ù Stormwater management and drainage designs.

Ù Pile foundation designs.

Ù Road designs.

Ù Equipment foundation designs.

Ù Building designs.

Ù Concrete foundation design.

Ù Interpreting and applying Geotechnical, Hydrological and Topographical information.

Ù Ability to assess and select key materials and components based on technical and commercial characteristics.

Ù Generating SANS 1200 BOQ’s from designs.

Ù Developing cost estimates and writing technical clarifications for tenders.

Ù Ability to multitask and undertake multiple projects simultaneously at various stages of project development and execution.

Ù Competent and professional interaction with client engineering teams.

Ù Demonstrated ability in managing engineering teams and or engineering consultants.

Ù Ability to travel to project sites as and when required.
