Business Development Manager (Retail & Hospitality)

SUMMARY:
Our client provides fresh and ripe produce to both the retail and hospitality sector nationally with business sectors regionally. 

The focus of this position is to add value by increasing sales revenue and GP.  You would help their customers achieve their potentials by providing them with business intelligence and a solid growth plan. Being customer focused, the BDM is a vital decision maker in the organization. FMCG knowledge is an essential platform for your success, and BDMs are hands-on; taking complete ownership of the customer’s experience.

Qualifications and requirements:

• A record of running a business profitably.
• A solid track-record within sales into the retail/FMCG
• Solid grasp of Mathematics and the ability to think quickly on one’s feet.
• Ability to influence others.
• An outstanding listener.

POSITION INFO:
Duties:

• Call on valued retail customers (PnP’s, Spars, Food Lovers, Independents etc) and clients in the Hospitality sector in the Southern Cape (Plett to Stilbaai) with a strong focus on developing business within them. Working with your manager, you would develop growth plans for each store and execute them.
• Developing new business by opening new accounts. This is done by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, and attending trade shows and conferences.
• Motivate, activate, and monitor in-store promotions. Often over weekends, you will have promotional teams you would manage, not necessarily be there in person
• BDM’s are responsible for the order & delivery process, customer stock, shelf management & occasional complaints.
• Management of your Delivery and Tele-Sales team (2-6 people).
• Attend regular training meetings.
• Maintain customer records, using a bespoke CRM system.

• Our client offers a basic salary of R20k, which is negotiable, dependent on experience, a well defined commission structure with potential to double take-home salary.
