Business Architect

SUMMARY:
A Business Architect plays a critical role in ensuring the alignment of digital transformation efforts with the company strategic objectives ensuring that the risks of digital investment are mitigated. The contracted resource will be expected to perform the following activities to the company team:

Business architecture development:

• Develop a business architecture strategy based on a situational awareness of various business scenarios and motivations.
• Apply a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views of the enterprise. Capture the tactical and strategic enterprise goals that provide traceability through the organisation and ensure that the goals are mapped to metrics that provide ongoing governance.
• Describe the primary business functions of the enterprise and distinguish between customer-facing, supplier-related, business execution and business management functions.
• Define the set of strategic, core and support processes that transcend functional and organisational boundaries; identify and describe external entities such as customers, suppliers, and external systems that interact with the business; and describe the people, resources and controls involved in the processes.
• Define the data shared across the enterprise and the relationships between those data.
• Capture the relationships among roles, capabilities and business units, the decomposition of those business units into sub-units, and the internal or external management of those units.
• Conduct business capability map assessments to identify areas of improvement and make the changes necessary to carry out strategy or reshape the business.
• Responsible for designing business architecture artefacts. This includes creating and maintaining the knowledge base and connecting it to other domains such as processes and system applications.
• Manage the practice within an organisation as it matures by formalising the supporting infrastructure, training, methodology, governance, and tools
• Liaise with the client security, data and solutions architects to share best practices and insights

• Ensure solutions developed across the organisation are aligned to enterprise architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet financial targets (cost and benefits)
• Develop and evaluate requests for information (RFIs) and requests for proposals (RFPs), where required.

• Establish, build and maintain collaborative working relationships with relevant internal stakeholders.
• Build and maintain positive and value-adding relationships with relevant external stakeholders.
• Scan the environment to ensure a clear understanding of stakeholder needs.
• Proactively interact with stakeholders to determine their needs and deliver on them accordingly.
• Engage with both internal and external stakeholders to identify and evaluate performance barriers and success in order to continuously improve on the service delivery
• Work in collaboration with colleagues in the centre to ensure timeous delivery of the work and manage service level agreements (SLAs).

• Information technology-related diploma or degree and professional architecture certification (i.e. The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman certified, Certified Business Architect (CBA))
• The resources must have at least five years of experience as a Senior Business Architect and possess expertise in the following business architecture components:
• Business Architecture Principles
• Business Strategy and Goals Alignment
• Business Capability Model
• Value Streams and Value Chain Analysis
• Business Process Architecture (Bpm Models and Process Maps)
• Organisational Model and Role Definition
• Business Information and Data Models
