2 years or more experience in a similar Bookkeeper role
Familiar with UK accounting, financial and regulatory requirements (UK Tax, VAT etc).
Good Excel Skills
Good communication skills

About:
The bookkeeper plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Operations department, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. By handling key accounting and administrative tasks, this role enables the COO to focus on strategic initiatives and driving operational efficiency across the business.

The Bookkeeper is essential in maintaining high standards of accuracy, compliance, and financial organisation, ensuring that our operations run as efficiently as possible.

Although the position may be remote, it is vital that the Bookkeeper works closely with the broader Operations team and Cape Town-based roles, contributing to team morale, celebrating achievements, and helping to resolve challenges. It’s a great opportunity for detail-oriented, motivated, and highly organised individuals.

Responsibilities

Independently run sales ledger, purchase ledger, payroll and expenses.
Familiar with UK accounting, financial and regulatory requirements (UK Tax, VAT etc).
Ensure all VAT, Tax, PAYE and Pension filings and payments are made accurately and on time.
Run the annual processes: P60, P11D, etc.
Post all entries on to the finance system and run regular Bank reconciliations.
Cashflow analysis and forecasting on a weekly basis.
Act as point of contact for internal colleagues and external stakeholders for all Finance queries.
Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports for Management as required.
Proactively flag issues or concerns to management.
Cover for the Lettings Accountant, matching incoming payments and processing payments
Run and handle the referral process.
