Boiler & Kiln Superintendent, Stutterheim

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a Boiler & Kiln Superintendent for a permanent role based in Stutterheim, Eastern Cape

POSITION INFO:

Applicants are required to meet the following criteria:

• Grade 12 / NTC3, with relevant technical experience and ability with tools and mechanical workings, if not trade tested
• Strong experience in the operations of Boilers : General operations, Technical experience, Maintenance, Regulations
• Experience in timber Kiln Drying would be advantageous: Kiln drying operations, Schedules, Quality Control
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a boiler operations environment
• Medically fit with sober habits
• Proficient in MS Office skills in Excel & MS Outlook
• Code EB license with own transport
• Willing to work irregular hours and perform standby duties
• Willing to work overtime, incl weekends
• Must be able to communicate in English (speak, read & write), Xhosa will be an added advantage

• Running the daily activities of the Boiler & Kiln operations at both sites, including technical & maintenance oversight
• Ensure compliance of all plant, machinery and auxiliary equipment to relevant statutory health, safety and environmental legislation and regulations, as well as company policies & procedures
• Control of spare part inventories, and critical spares
• Monitor and control costs
• Manage training and development of departmental employees
• Ensuring and improving the performance, productivity & efficiency
• Managing all staff in accordance with labour laws and company policies
• Ensuring a high-level housekeeping standard in the department
