Are you a hands-on leader with a passion for agriculture? Our client is seeking a Production Manager to oversee daily operations at their blueberry farm in Porterville. You’ll manage a team of supervisors, drive production from planting to harvest, and shape the farm’s success by implementing short- and long-term plans. What You’ll Do:
- Plan, organise, and supervise daily farm activities—planting, pruning, fertigation, pest/disease control, and harvesting.
- Lead a team of supervisors, ensuring smooth operations across all sections.
- Monitor financial and physical performance, keeping production on budget and on target.
- Coordinate with technical, maintenance, and engineering teams to maintain equipment and production areas.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., SIZA, Global G.A.P.) and quality benchmarks.
- Analyse soil/leaf data, set performance goals, and keep detailed records.
- Mentor staff, manage HR basics (safety, leave, training), and build a strong team.
What You Bring:
- Qualifications: Grade 12 (Senior Certificate) + certificates in farming activities (e.g., irrigation, scouting, plant production).
- An agricultural Degree would be beneficial.
- Experience: 3+ years in farm production, ideally with crop management from land prep to harvest.
- Solid know-how in horticulture and fruit production.
- Computer skills (MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Basic financial and HR knowledge (budgets, safety regs, staff management).
- Top-notch leadership, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication and people skills—written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Ability to juggle priorities and deliver results under pressure.
