Banqueting CDP

SUMMARY:
The Banqueting Chef de Partie (CDP) is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of high-quality banquet-style dishes at a luxury 5-star boutique hotel in Polokwane. This role involves maintaining kitchen standards, ensuring consistency in food quality, and supporting the Head Chef in executing banquet functions, special events, and fine dining experiences.
Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook high-quality banquet dishes according to event menus and hotel standards.
• Assist in planning and executing banqueting functions, ensuring efficient service and food presentation.
• Maintain consistency in food preparation, ensuring flavours and presentation meet luxury dining expectations.
• Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients.
• Maintain hygiene and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
• Collaborate with the kitchen team to optimize workflow and efficiency.
• Support junior kitchen staff and provide training when necessary.
• Assist in creating new menu items for banquet events, considering guest preferences and dietary requirements.
• Work closely with the Banqueting Manager and service staff to ensure seamless event execution.
• Handle kitchen equipment with care and report any maintenance issues.

POSITION INFO:

• Education: Formal culinary qualification (e.g., Diploma in Culinary Arts or Professional Cookery Certificate).
• Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a professional kitchen, with a focus on banqueting or large-scale event catering.
• Luxury Hospitality: Experience in a 5-star boutique hotel or fine dining establishment is highly advantageous.
• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, plating styles, and banquet service execution.
• Hygiene & Safety: Understanding of HACCP standards and kitchen health regulations.
• Teamwork & Leadership: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and support junior chefs.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays based on event schedules.
• Attention to Detail: A passion for excellence in food presentation and quality.
