Azure Platform Engineer

+Onex is looking for a seasoned azure platform engineer to implement, enhance, and maintain the ODP (One Data Platform) azure infrastructure templates. The potential individual will use their Azure knowledge to develop and implement fixes and enhancements into the IDX (Investec Data Experience) azure templates. You’ll be working with the Data Platform lead and business unit engineers to implement upgrades and develop the product backlog.

Knowledge will be required in the following technologies:

• Knowledge of distributed data mesh deployment methodology
• 6+ years of experience as an Azure platform engineer
• Thorough knowledge in Azure bicep templates for automating the deployment of
• Azure DevOps, Azure Functions, Azure Web Apps, Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse studio
• C#, Python and TSQL
• Experience in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - scripting and automation via Azure CLI, PowerShell, Bash, Bicep and JSON ARM
• and Bicep templates
• An understanding of Agile methodologies
• Knowledge of systems development, project management approaches

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field from an accredited university and/or equivalent work experience
• Microsoft Azure certifications or equivalent work experience:
• AZ-900 (Azure Fundamentals) certification
• AZ-104 (Azure Administrator) certification
• AZ-305 (Azure Solutions Architect Expert) certification
• AZ-700 (Azure Networking Associate) certifications.

The role will include:

• You would be expected to lead teams to identify, categorize, prioritise, and analyse data and information to build cloud migration action plans and solution architectures.
• Building of bicep templates to enable the IDX template roadmap and data strategy.
• Automate deployments, configurations where possible. Perform audits of deployments and configurations.
• Create DevOps efficiencies where possible using a combination third party SaaS and PaaS products and custom developed tools.
• Create and manage observability processes and protocols for Azure workloads including thresholds, triggers, action groups, ticketing system and web hook integrations. Monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and report metrics on service and application issues (uptime, redundancy, latency, traffic, error rates, saturation, performance, usage, etc.)
• Designing of azure templates and components to deploy out data related azure technologies.
• Debugging of deployment issues and business unit issues resulting from template upgrades
• Designing template upgrade paths to ensure all business units can run and maintain the latest version of the IDX templates aligned to the product roadmap.
• Translating of architecture designs into technical implementations
• Playing a supporting and mentoring role to junior Azure platform engineers
• Defining upgrade paths between template versions
• Maintaining IDX template versioning logs
• Performance and cost optimization
• Develop, implement, and maintain relevant documentation, guidelines, checklists, and policies to promote continuous integration, ensure and improve data security, and reduce the possibility of “human error”.
