Automation Engineer

SUMMARY:
Seeking an Automation Engineer, and experienced Team Leader in industrial engineering, to oversee and coordinate efforts in upgrading and maintaining machinery, PLCs, and drives. This role is also responsible for ensuring the seamless integration of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) with SAP, to optimize production processes and drive efficiency. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership skills to manage projects, mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional departments.

POSITION INFO:
Requirements & Duties:

• Lead initiatives to upgrade and modernize machinery, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
• Design and/or customize entire cabinets & programs for machines either standalone or in cooperation with subcontractors/OEMs.
• Oversee the programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs).
• Ensure the proper selection, integration, and maintenance of all types of drives (e.g., servo, AC/DC, VFD).
• Work closely with OEMs and suppliers to procure and implement state-of-the-art equipment and technologies.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; preferably with a Masters Degree.
• 8+ years of experience in industrial engineering, with a focus on machinery upgrades, PLC programming, and MES operation/integration.
• Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a technical team.
• Strong knowledge of PLC systems (e.g., Siemens S7, knowledge of Siemens S5 is a plus) and drive technologies.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD Systems (SolidWorks or similar).
• Experience with MES platforms and their integration with an ERP system.
• Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production systems.
