MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education
- University degree in Architecture.
- Registered as a professional Architect with the South African Institute of Architect (SAIA).
- Proficiency in design and office software such as Revit, AutoCAD, Sketchup, Photoshop and
Microsoft Suite office suite.
Experience and knowledge requirements
- 3 years’ experience in architecture in the construction industry.
- Sound knowledge of construction industry practices, regulations and standards.
- Experience working with AutoCAD and/or with such other design software and be able to validate quantities from the given drawings.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively.
Other (knowledge and skills), e.g. understanding of relevant legislation; knowledge of relevant company procedures.
- Project Management knowledge and skill;
- Statutory compliance including but not limited to OHS Act; Building Regulation; Environmental Management Act.
- Understanding and knowledge of building codes, zoning regulations, building construction, building systems and site requirements.

Architect Services To Produce Most Efficient And Appropriate Technical Design Solutions
KPI
Technical advice:
1.1. Advise on which Consultants will required for the project.
Design development
1.2. Develop design concept for user review and subsequent approval.
1.3. Workability of the design: Ensure that the facility and its system is able to function in the manner and to the extent intended.
1.4. Lead coordination of design development to integrate different building system into the design
1.5. Concept.
1.6. Reconcile viability of the design concept against the budget, rights and restrictions of the property and project program.
1.7. Progress design development to detailed design with all its components to produce such schedules as finishes, sanitary ware, ironmongery and other schedules.
1.8. Specific design: Provide designs which have specific details on material, assembly design and specific performance criteria.
Statutory and local authority documentation:
1.9. Prepare drawings and documentation sufficient for submission and approval by local authority.
1.10. Ensure regulatory compliance: Ensure that the design as its developed and when being incorporated into the contract documents complies with all applicable statutory requirements including Fire, safety and all other building regulations.
Construction and procurement documentation
1.11. Prepare necessary documentation for construction and full execution of the works including the documents from the engineers and other appointed consultants. Include site information, timeframe for construction and the form of construction contract.
1.12. Prepare a set of tender documents and obtain user approval of the tender documents before procurement process proceeds.
1.13. Ensure technical accuracy of all documents including reviews of contracts with contractors.
1.14. Ensure plans and specifications are not only theoretically but created plans and specifications are practically and realistically possible.
1.15. Provide guidance to procurement on contractors with capabilities and best suited for the type of project.
1.16. Coordinate with appointed professional team and provide technical input on evaluation of contractors.
Construction / Technical execution
1.17. Handover the site to the contractor and issue contract documents, drawings and schedules.
1.18. Arrange and chair regular meetings with the appointed contractor and other appointed consultants.
1.19. Review samples of materials, and work and mock-ups provided by the contractor.
1.20. Evaluation of the work including reviews required for release of payment provisions.
1.21. Conformance with requirements: Undertake detailed review of every significant component to confirm that the deliverable meets all design and performance criteria originally specified.
1.22. Provide missing design information: where design information and dimensions may be missing or conflict with possibility during installation provide information to enable progression of work.
1.23. Evaluation of the work: Undertake ongoing evaluation of the work to confirm that the work is being performed in accordance with the contract documents.
1.24. When works is substantially complete, inspect the project and issue completion certificate and a list of defects still need to be completed by the contractor.
1.25. Prepare a set of construction records (as built drawings) all completion documents such as maintenance manuals, guarantees and warrantees etc.

4.5. Assure that regulatory-required submissions are completed and approvals are obtained in accordance with applicable regulations.
4.6. Where a Professional Team is appointed, liaise with the team and ensure project complies with relevant regulations.
4.7. Ensure where required, staff permits, licenses, and certificates are maintained, recorded, and remain current.
