About the Role

This role is instrumental in growing, managing, and strengthening a continent-wide marine conservation network. You will be responsible for facilitating strategic partnerships, expanding the network’s reach, managing digital tools, and ensuring effective communication and engagement with stakeholders across Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Network Growth & Management: Develop and expand the African Marine Network, increasing membership across African countries and island states.
Stakeholder Engagement: Foster and maintain strong relationships with NGOs, research institutions, governments, and conservation partners.
Database & Mapping System Management: Oversee a segregated database and online mapping system to track network members and activities.
Strategic Communications: Work closely with marketing and communications teams to promote network activities via newsletters, websites, and digital platforms.
Project & Membership Model Management: Track and coordinate membership engagement, reporting, and strategic growth.
Event & Workshop Coordination: Organise network meetings, workshops, and location visits to strengthen regional and international collaborations.
Brand & Content Management: Ensure consistent brand presence across partner platforms and contribute to strategic reports, social media, and the annual report.
Monitoring & Reporting: Provide regular updates on network impact, stakeholder feedback, and engagement metrics.

What You Bring

Tertiary qualification in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Stakeholder Management, or a related field.
5+ years of experience in stakeholder engagement, network coordination, or communications.
Experience in non-profit, NGO, or conservation sectors is highly preferred.
Proven expertise in ArcGIS or similar mapping software and WordPress.
Strong project management and organisational skills.
Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable, with a hands-on approach to execution.
Strong communication skills in English (fluency in an additional African language such as Swahili, French, Portuguese, isiZulu, or isiXhosa is advantageous).
Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel.

Job Details

Location: Gqeberha, South Africa.
Duration: 12-month fixed-term contract, renewable for an additional three years.

Salary: Competitive (Paterson Grade C.
