POSITION INFO:

Purpose of the role

The purpose of the role of the accounts receivable clerk is to maximise the company’s cash flow by ensuring that trade customers are billed correctly and their payments are collected timeously.

Key tasks and responsibilities

Billing

• Credit vet clients to assess creditworthiness
• Receive allocated cost estimates from traffic for invoicing
• Check invoice VAT amounts for accuracy
• Allocate payments received to the correct accounts
• Reconcile clients’ accounts on the finance system
• Ensure accurate statements are sent to clients

Debtors control

• Control and collect outstanding debts
• Ensure accurate reporting (debtors ageing) is submitted to the finance manager within the set deadline
• Maintenance of debtors'' Masterfile
• Ensure credit terms of the company are met by customers
• Reconcile and analyse relevant G/L accounts

Customer service

• Ensure timeous follow-up and feedback on queries both externally (clients) and internally
• Resolve all queries and outstanding items
• Ensure that necessary credits to a client are made when required
• Attend regular meetings with customers to build and maintain relationships

Adhoc projects

• Ensure that allocated projects, as specified by the group financial manager, are completed and project deadlines are met
• Ensure that project delivery does not affect or set back normal deadlines

Required qualifications and skills

• Matric with mathematics and accounting
• A diploma in finance and accounting is an advantage
• A minimum of one year’s working experience as a debtor clerk
• Digital advertising industry experience is a plus
• Advanced Excel skills and knowledge of reconciliations and client relations
• Knowledge of the Navision accounting system
• Integrity and honesty
• Excellent customer service skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Driven, self-motivated
• Ability to follow verbal directions
