An experienced Accounts Clerk / Junior Accountant required for large FMCG (Homeware) wholesaler in Mkondeni Pietermaritzburg required.

Junior Accountant / Accounts Clerk (Debtors & Creditors Experience)

Location: Pietermaritzburg
Salary: R12000.00 to R16000.00 depending on experience

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Clerk / Junior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with both debtors and creditors, as well as a strong understanding of basic accounting principles. Key Responsibilities:

• Debtors Management:
• Monitor and manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.
• Liaise with clients regarding overdue payments and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare and send customer statements and reminders.
• Creditors Management:
• Manage accounts payable, ensuring timely payment of supplier invoices.
• Verify and reconcile supplier statements.
• Assist with the preparation of payment runs and ensure accurate and timely payments.
• General Accounting:
• Assist with month-end closing and preparation of financial statements.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and adjustments.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports and analyses.
• Reporting & Compliance:
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for both debtors and creditors.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Educational Background:

• A degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Ability to read or speak Arabic is advantageous.
• Proven experience as an Accounts Clerk or in a similar role, specifically with debtors and creditors management.
• Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Pastel).
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
