Job Title: Accounting Assistant
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generate and manage invoices accurately and in a timely manner.
- Ensure compliance with relevant billing procedures and resolve discrepancies.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with customers regarding billing inquiries and payment processing.
- Address customer queries and provide necessary information.
- Undertake general administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of the accounting department.
- Maintain organised and systematic filing systems for financial records.
- Collaborate with the accounting team to facilitate month-end and year-end closing procedures.
- Assist in preparing financial reports and statements.
- Participate in regular stock take activities to maintain accurate inventory records.
- Monitor work in progress and reconcile it with financial records.
- Contribute to project management by tracking financial aspects and ensuring adherence to budgets.
- Assist in preparing financial reports for project evaluation.
- Engage in cost accounting processes to analyse, track, and report on costs associated with business operations.
- Collaborate with relevant departments to gather cost-related information.
Requirements:
- Have a minimum of 1-2 years of practical experience in an accounting assistant role.
- Matric / Grade 12
- Post-secondary education in accounting, finance, or a related field would be advantageous.
- Valid driver’s License
- Previous experience with Pastel accounting software is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of fundamental accounting principles and procedures.
- Apply knowledge to accurately record financial transactions and maintain financial integrity.
- Ability to navigate Pastel efficiently for tasks such as ledger management and financial reporting.
- Ability to use these tools for various accounting and administrative tasks.
- Showcase familiarity with day-to-day accounting responsibilities.
- Exhibit strong communication skills in conveying financial information and interacting with colleagues and clients.
- Showcase exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail in handling administrative tasks.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
