Accountant - Agriculture

SUMMARY:
A leading company specialising in the manufacturing and distribution of agricultural chemicals requires the above to ensure that all financial accounting for the company is conducted accurately and timeously within the finance department.

POSITION INFO:
Minimum requirements for the role:

• Must have a BCom Finance or Accounting or related degree.
• Previous experience having worked on Pastel Partner is preferred.
• Previous experience having worked in an Accountant role is essential.
• Must have advanced Excel experience.

• Assisting the Financial Manager with all accounting functions within the company.
• Assisting with any customer queries, statements, reconciliations when required.
• Assisting the logistics department in the capturing of sales orders and raising invoices
• Processing credit notes to customer accounts.
• Journalising settlement discounts against customer accounts.
• Handling accounts receivable as well as all bad debts or write offs, discounting journals on customer accounts.
• Creating purchase orders on pastel for suppliers and allocating expenses to the correct ledger accounts.
• Capturing and matching supplier invoices against purchase orders on pastel.
• Reconciling monthly creditors age analysis and submitting reconciliations to management for approval.
• Writing off of expired stock on pastel and updating cash forecast on debtors and creditors.
• Calculating and submitting the SARS returns for PAYE, SDL and UIF, VAT, WCA, EMP501 reconciliation, VAT501 and provisional tax.
• Reconciling general ledger accounts on a monthly basis and compiling and updating of asset registers.
• Creating accruals and standard month end journals for discount write offs etc.
• Assisting with the full preparations of company books for year end auditing.
