Accountant: Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets

POSITION INFO:
Join my client's team as an Accountant: Accounts Payable and Fixed Assets, where you will play a crucial role in managing financial operations and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North

Key Responsibilities:

• Accounts Payable Management:
  • Process all expense invoices daily and prepare accounts payable reconciliations before payments.
  • Analyze expenses to ensure validity and approval.
  • Conduct monthly age analysis of accounts payable.
  • Load payments on Standard Bank Business Online.
• Vendor Master Data Maintenance:
  • Regularly update vendor master data on SAP.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers to address queries and maintain relationships.
• Credit Card Management:
  • Review and reconcile all credit card expenses.
  • Manage credit card applications and resolve related queries.
• Procurement (P2P):
  • Request and compare quotations for finance-related purchases.
  • Manage the ordering and receiving of goods.
  • Provide training and support to other P2P users.
  • Monitor and manage open orders in the P2P system.
• Cashbook Management:
  • Process daily transactions in the cashbook and perform month-end bank reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve unidentifiable bank transactions.
• Fixed Asset Management:
  • Record purchases, disposals, and scrapping of fixed assets.
  • Run monthly depreciation and conduct regular asset verification.
  • Maintain the Capex file and update the company’s asset monitoring system.
  • Provide training to staff on asset monitoring procedures.
• Budget and Forecast Assistance:
  • Assist the Financial Controller in gathering data and preparing calculations for budgets and forecasts.
• Month-End and General Ledger Reconciliations:
  • Record provisions and other month-end entries.
  • Prepare reconciliations for accounts such as pre-paid expenses, accrued expenses, IFRS16, and refundable deposits.

• A Degree or Diploma in Accounting or Finance.
• Completed SAICA/SAIPA articles is essential.
• Proven experience in accounts payable and fixed asset management.
• Proficiency in SAP and other accounting software.
• Strong analytical and reconciliation skills.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
