Our client is a well-established and highly respected leader in the South African financial services industry, with a national presence. They are currently seeking an Accountant / Group Accountant for their Hyde Park office in Johannesburg, Gauteng.
 
This is an excellent opportunity to join a financial planning practice and work closely with the Group Financial Director. The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, methodical professional with a strong focus on accuracy and the ability to perform well under pressure.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Debtors and creditors management
• Banking duties – including – loading of payments on the bank platforms
• Review monthly invoicing to ensure completeness and accuracy of fee income and allocation of commission income;
• Calculate and journal the monthly reconciliation of all commission received per consultant/planner and, where applicable, per client;
• Daily capturing, reconciliation and sign-off of bank statement for all group companies;
• Daily capturing of revenue receivable (invoicing);
• Daily capturing of supplier invoices that comply with internal controls and regulatory requirements (VAT Act);
• Maintaining electronic filing system to ensure all filing completed accurately and timeously;
• Intercompany invoicing and allocations (based on calculations provided);
• Requesting of all supplier invoices and statements (including debit orders) for prompt payment, where necessary;
• Assist with annual audit preparations for the group of entities;
• Perform other general accounting support tasks in the Group Finance department;
• Training of intern
• Ad hoc journals as and when required

• Completed BCom / Management Accounting or Financial Management Degree
• Minimum 5 year’s experience in an Accounting position
• CIMA - Articles is advantageous but not essential
• Knowledge of accounting platform (Sage and Xero)
• High Level Computer Literacy – Specifically on Excel, Word
• Own reliable transport
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English (Only basic Afrikaans required, but advantageous)
