1288 IT Operations Event Management Specialist (ITOM) (Senior)

SUMMARY:
Our client seeks an IT Operations Event Management Specialist (ITOM) to ensure the uninterrupted operation of their IT systems. This role demands a proactive approach to monitoring, identifying, and resolving potential issues. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with problem-solving skills to maintain system stability and optimize performance. This is a contract position with an anticipated end date of December 2027.

POSITION INFO:

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor IT systems for anomalies and potential issues.
• Implement and manage IT event management solutions.
• Develop and execute incident response plans.
• Conduct root cause analysis to identify and resolve underlying problems.
• Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
• Collaborate with IT teams to ensure optimal system performance.
• Develop and maintain documentation for processes and procedures.
• Provide support to IT teams and end-users as needed.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience in IT Event Management solutions (ServiceNow ITOM, BMC TrueSight, or similar).
• Strong technical foundation in IT infrastructure, platforms, and programming languages (Linux, Windows, Networks, Databases, Web technologies, Cloud, Shell, Perl, JavaScript, Java).
• In-depth knowledge of ITIL v4, particularly Problem, Incident, and Change Management.
• Agile methodology experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Skills

• Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
• ITIL certifications.

Qualifications and Experience

• Information technology qualification (Degree, Diploma, Certificate).
• Minimum of 6 years’ experience in IT Operations Management.
• ServiceNow certifications (ITOM) preferred.

Role Requirements

• Support the migration of IT Event Management from existing solutions (e.g., BMC TrueSight) to ServiceNow ITOM.
• Continuously enhance the ServiceNow ITOM solution.
• Integrate monitoring solutions with ServiceNow ITOM.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support for the ServiceNow ITOM solution.
• Gather requirements for new monitoring functions.
• Develop and implement enhancements based on user stories.
• Support IT teams in utilizing the ServiceNow ITOM solution.
• Create and maintain essential documentation.
• Conduct testing and act as a subject matter expert (SME) on ITOM.
• Ensure compliance with IT governance and audit requirements.
