Responsibilities and skills of a UX Designer

It is often essential and advantageous for UX designers to understand graphic design and web technologies. Experience using wireframing tools such as Adobe XD or Figma is usually required.
  • Design graphic user interface elements
  • Conduct usability testing
  • Develop UI mock-ups and prototypes that illustrate how sites function
  • Build page navigation buttons and search fields
  • Follow style standards on images, colours and fonts
  • Define interaction models, user task flows, and UI (user interface) specifications
  • Conduct competitor and customer analysis

UX Designer Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in visual design is not always essential, but having an impressive portfolio displaying previous design projects will surely let you stand out amongst competitors. It is a good idea to work on projects that bring out the best of your skills, even if they’re personal or unpaid.
  • BSc in Computer Science, Design or relevant field
  • Experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role
  • History of design projects
  • Current knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Experience wireframe tools, including InVision and Wireframe.cc
  • Have a great team spirit
  • Have strong communication skills
  • Excellent time-management skills
