Responsibilities of a Actuarial Specialist

The specific duties of an actuary vary by employer, but typical responsibilities include:

Using statistical analysis techniques such as regression analysis and time series analysis on large data sets
Developing models for pricing financial products such as life insurance policies and fixed annuities
Support all aspects of insurance operations, including product development, pricing and underwriting;
Modelling cash flows, risk exposure and portfolio performance over time
Determining the probability of future events based on historical experience
Create reports regarding various aspects of insurance coverage (e.g., premium analysis) for internal use by management or external use by clients

Qualifications to be an Actuarial Specialist

Bachelor's degree in finance, actuarial science, statistics, business, mathematics, economics
Experience as an Actuarial
Robust skills in actuarial mathematics, with vast knowledge in probability theory, mathematics, investment theory and statistics
Outstanding interpersonal and communications skills; interpret and share complex and challenging topics with colleagues and stakeholders in simple, easy-to-understand language
Creative problem-solving skills, research and analytical skills
Expert IT skills
