Group Risk
Effective risk management is fundamental to the business activities of the Standard Bank Group (group). While we remain committed to increasing shareholder value by developing and growing our business within our broad determined risk appetite, we are mindful of achieving this objective in line with the interests of all stakeholders.
To develop high quality, effective operational risk scorecards (application, behavioural and collections) for all Standard Bank Personal Banking portfolios.
Manage teams of scorecard developers to deliver scorecards to agreed timelines, following agreed processes and procedures.

Project manage scorecard developments ensuring that they follow all appropriate Governance and regulatory processes.
Liaise with business partners to ensure scorecards developments are prioritised correctly and are appropriate for the desired usage, and can be effectively implemented.
Develop credit risk models following the department’s agreed policy , procedures and processes.
Provide clear, accurate and complete development and implementation documentation for all developed scorecards and ensure that these are stored in the appropriate manner for subsequent easy, controlled access.
Present the developed scorecards to the appropriate Bank forums (development meetings, PBB Technical committee, CRMC, Std Bank Model Approval committee, SARB reviews, etc. ) as required.
Assist business with ad hoc projects as and when required.
Knowledge sharing.
Keep up to date with scorecard development methodologies.
Minimum of BSc/B Com Honours degree in statistics, mathematics, operations research, mathematics of finance, engineering, or equivalent actuarial degree, or subject with appropriate statistical content.
Masters or higher preferred.

5 to 6 years experience of developing scorecards or similar type models in a banking or finance environment .
Strong practical understanding of statistical concepts (Assumptions, parameters, interpretation of the results).
Environment that influences changes in scorecards namely markets, economical environment and business operations for example campaigns
Proven ability to build and maintain professional relationships with our
internal and external customers.
Highly competent in usage of statistical software package(s) e.g. SAS, SPSS, Matlab.
Ability to motivate and lead a team of specialists.
Ability to communicate difficult technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Conscientious, accurate, thorough and committed.
