An electrical engineering firm in Nelspruit is seeking a Heavy Current Engineer.

POSITION INFO:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Current Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems and infrastructure for large-scale industrial projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering, with a focus on heavy current systems, and a passion for innovative problem-solving in high-demand environments.

This position is based in Nelspruit/Mbombela.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design & Development: Design electrical systems for heavy current applications, including power distribution, high-voltage systems, and industrial electrical equipment.
• Project Management: Oversee electrical projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, timelines, and industry standards.
• System Analysis & Troubleshooting: Analyze existing electrical systems and troubleshoot issues related to performance, efficiency, and safety.
• Installation & Commissioning: Supervise the installation and commissioning of electrical systems and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and compliance with safety regulations.
• Safety & Compliance: Ensure that all electrical designs and installations adhere to relevant local, national, and international electrical codes and safety standards.
• Maintenance & Upgrades: Plan and execute maintenance activities to ensure the continued reliability of electrical systems. Identify opportunities for system upgrades or improvements.
• Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including mechanical, civil, and control engineers, to ensure integrated solutions for large-scale projects.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of designs, modifications, system performance, and safety inspections.

• Educational Requirements:
  
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current specialization preferred) or a related field.
• Professional Experience:
  
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer in heavy current or industrial electrical systems.
  • Experience with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, ETAP, PowerWorld, or similar) is an advantage.
