ROLE PURPOSE:

The incumbent will be responsible for Sales and Retention. The primary purpose of this role is to assume responsibility for actively acquiring and onboarding new clients with the view to offering clients business solutions and thereby increasing the organisation’s transaction volumes based on predefined targets.

 

MAIN ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The responsibilities will be varied and include the following critical performance areas:

  • This position is a “sales hunter” position with some account management in scope
  • Sales leads are primarily acquired through one’s own canvassing efforts with some leads being received from certain of our business partners or clients contacting us directly
  • This role may require the incumbent to grow and retain a portfolio of clients organically, however, it is management’s intention to keep relationship management in this role to a minimum for the sake of sales focus
  • The organisation provides its clients with technological solutions to enhance cashflow management processes which requires a solutions based problem analysis and sales approach
  • Given the nature of the organisation’s solutions, the role also requires a fairly good understanding of the South African payments environment as well as a general understanding of cashflow management practices within companies (This is the area targeted with their solutions to create efficiencies for clients)
  • This role requires someone who can confidently engage with strategic as well as operational stakeholders at clients in unpacking business requirements or advising on recommended business solutions 
  • Work closely with the organisation’s collaboration partners in providing innovative solutions to joint clients e.g. technology companies and banks
  • Gain a deep understanding of the organisation’s financial solutions suite and core value proposition as it applies to new prospects and target markets
  • Propose solutions to clients based on analytical consultation with clients on ways in which the company would be able to enhance their financial administration, payment & receipting processes through the use of the solutions or via new innovation
  • Develop and maintain a sales funnel according to the organisation’s defined standard and provide regular progress feedback to line management
  • Gain a deep awareness of client requirements, competitor activity and the company’s solutions capabilities and provide regular and proactive feedback to the product management division
  • Program manage the client take-on process with the assistance of a dedicated Implementation Specialist
  • Maintain client data and documentation e.g. Proposals, Contracts, Pricing Letters etc.
  • Submit monthly reports to management
  • May be required from time to time to assist with activities or projects outside of normal job description based on unique skill sets that the applicant may have

Role Profile Match Information:

  • Service, retain and grow a portfolio of clients and achieve revenue targets by either growing a portfolio of existing clients (optimising revenue opportunities) or by acquiring new clients
  • Define a portfolio growth strategy in line with predetermined growth targets, which are determined on an annual basis. Prepare business proposals and participate in client solutions workshops. Based on exposure to clients needs and competitor offerings, innovate new value propositions
  • Oversee the client take-on processes together with Implementer and Project Manager for implementation projects within new and existing clients. Interact with clients on a strategic as well as operational level in order to maximize cross sell opportunities and strengthen relationships
  • Liaise with Customer Relationship Executives allocated by respective banks for services being provided to clients by those banks. Maintaining client data, complete client documentation. May be required from time to time to contribute to activities or projects outside of normal job description based on unique skill sets

REQUIREMENTS:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • B Com degree or similar qualification
  • 5 -10 years experience in a field requiring solutions based selling as a “Hunter”
  • Proven understanding of the South African Payment Industry example understanding of “electronic banking”
  • Knowledge or exposure in e-Commerce is advantageous
  • Proven understanding of or having worked within an operational finance capacity in a large organization is essential

  • Sound understanding of the Payments Industry
  • Sound understanding of cashflow administration processes and practices in companies i.e. payments, receipting, reconciliation and reporting practices
  • Ability to operate at an operational as well as strategic level when dealing with clients
